Seahawks drop two games to Alvin College

PORT ARTHUR, Texas – Alyssa Lewis blasted her team-leading sixth home run of the season, but the Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the visiting Alvin College Dolphins by score of 5-3 and 8-0 in Region XIV softball action on Wednesday.
 
Game 1: Alvin 5, LSCPA 3
 
The Seahawks rallied from an early 2-0 deficit thanks to Lewis' homer in the third inning and a two-run rally in the bottom of the sixth, capped by Abigail Moreno's double, only to see Alvin take advantage of two LSCPA errors in the top of the seventh to score three unearned runs.
 
Lewis and Moreno had two hits apiece for the Seahawks. Allison Ramos had a two-out double in the seventh inning to highlight Alvin's comeback.
 
Game 2: Alvin 8, LSCPA 0 (5 innings)
 
The Dolphins (21-15 overall, 8-2 Region XIV) scored two runs in the first inning before sending 12 batters to the plate in a six-run fourth inning to claim the win in five innings.
 
Lewis, Quinn Zaragoza and Abagail Rutherford each had one hit in the nightcap for the Seahawks (6-20, 2-6). Alvin starter Madi Alvarado pitched a complete game, striking out nine.
 
Looking Ahead: The Seahawks return to action with a Region XIV doubleheader at Blinn College at 2 p.m. April 8. LSCPA is at Coastal Bend for a twinbill at 1 p.m. April 11 before returning home to host Galveston College at 1 p.m. April 15 at Martin Field.
